Salt River Mills offers roving and raw fiber to the spinning enthusiast.  Our roving is carded for ease of spinning and comes washed and free of noils and knots.  In fact, our customers have told us we we have some of the best roving in the country!  We offer both 100% suri and suri blends, which come in a variety of colors and textures.  Additionally, we have raw fiber for sale for those spinners who like to "start from scratch".  While our raw fiber is skirted and clean of debris, we do not wash it before sending it to you.  However, we advise anyone spinning suri to wash it before carding as these guys like to roll, and there is plenty of dirt and grit that cannot be removed once you've spun the fiber into yarn!

Our roving is sold at $4.00/oz plus shipping and our raw fiber is sold at $1.25/oz plus shipping (raw fiber minimum purchase of two ounces).  We currently have available:

Medium fawn roving - this is 85% suri/15% bamboo and absolutely the best on our farm.  It is 18 microns with luster, luster, luster!   This fiber was recently shown in yarn form  in Spin-Off Magazine as knitted into an Old Shale shawl.

Light fawn roving - this is a beautiful 85% suri/15% coopworth blend that won't let you down on the spinning wheel!

White roving - 85% suri/15% merino - this is a 22  micron fiber blended with merino for a wonderfully soft handle!

Medium fawn raw fiber - 25 micron, lovely luster, very nice.

White raw fiber -  This is 20 microns and wonderful to work with!  SOLD

Light brown raw fiber -  High luster and deliciously soft!

White raw fiber -   The best raw fiber on our farm to date!  Amazing luster, super fine, you won't even want to spin it, you'll just want to stick your hands in the raw fiber all day long!
